![]() With sata you DONT/CANT set drives to master or slave as they will have their own port on the card/motherboard so in affect as if your only using 1 device down the ide channel then set it to master, the sata drive wont matter.ĭrivers wont be an issue as long as the drives have been partitoned correctly. If your using 2 differant type of devices down the same channel, 1 dvdrom and 1 hard drive then you set BOTH to master. If your using the same kinf if device like cdroms/dvdroms on the same ide channel then you MUST set 1 as master and 1 as a slave with the jumper setting on the back of the device. I will quickly tell you how to configure IDE drives. Out of interest, how much data are you looking to save from the old drive and how big is the old drive?Sata drive set to master? The IDE connector doesnt have a shrould, so yes be. The adapter have a proper Master/Slave/Cable Select and an ACD for optical drive. Original xboxs are geting older now and as the original hard drives fail its getting harder to find new ide drive replacments. If this is an upgrade you are doing, need to think about settings and drivers too. If you need a sata to ide adapter for your original xbox this is the one to get. You will need to ensure the sata drive is physically set to master (usually a bridge across the 2 pins for master on back of drive) and the old drive is physically set to slave before connecting to the old drive to the motherboard. Can be done but not sure why you need to do it that way.
